Warren W. Wales, 59, a lifelong resident of Lansdale, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2012 at his residence. He was born in Philadelphia to the late Edgar W. “Bill” and Frances C. Wales. Warren was a graduate of North Penn High School, class of 1970, and a graduate of Temple University, class of 1973, receiving his degree in Construction Technology.
Warren was an employee of Upper Gwynedd Township from 1990 to 2010 and served as Assistant Code Enforcement Officer. He was noted for the attentive and thorough assistance he rendered to township residents and contractors to help them accomplish high-quality construction and to comply with building codes. He played an integral part in the design, construction, and completion of the township building expansion that took place between 2002 and 2004 and received special recognition by the Board of Commissioners for this role. He assisted the township in numerous other building and construction projects that were built by the township, including parks and recreation facilities. During his time in code enforcement, Warren developed pamphlets to help streamline procedures that are still in use today. Warren is greatly missed by his township colleagues.
To his friends and family, Warren was known as a “natural-born builder,” a “Bob- Villa” kind of man who could build a structure from scratch if he had to. He single-handedly planned and finished many beautiful renovations to his boyhood home in Lansdale.
During the 1980’s and 1990’s, Warren also was an active and enthusiastic member of the Telford Volunteer Diving and Rescue Unit of Upper Salford Township. He participated in water search and recovery operations, helped to maintain diving equipment, and assisted with fund raising.
Warren was preceded in death by his beloved son, Keaton Wales, and his brother, Alan Wales. His two brothers, Mark Wales, of San Francisco, CA and Brian Wales and his wife, Valerie, of Davenport, IA, survive him. Friends and relatives may greet the family 6-8 PM Thursday, April 5 and 10-11 AM Friday, April 6, at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale, PA 19446, followed by his funeral service at 11 AM. A brief interment service will take place 10AM, Saturday morning at St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont.
In lieu of flowers, a contribution in Warren’s memory may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 1000 W. Main St., Lansdale, PA 19446, designated to the F.E.A.S.T. Meals Fund. Online condolences may be made at www.huffandlakjer.com.
