Alexander Shugart

Alexander "Xander" Shugart, 15, the beloved son of Robert E. Shugart and Linda Shin, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia after a 4-year battle with synovial sarcoma cancer.


Xander was a student at North Penn school district, class of 2028. He loved video games, playing Roblox with his best friend and watching Youtube videos. From the age of 5, he and his father would attend the Playa Del Fuego Festival in Tamaqua, where he would enjoy the music and camping.  He would humor his mother and join her in various side quests of Lego building, Pokemon Go hunting and attending fiber festivals.


He showed incredible strength, patience and single-minded determination as he went through chemotherapy, radiation and other treatments. His spirit was never willing to stop fighting against the cancerous tumors and infections. Unfortunately, his body could no longer stand against the ravages.


Along with his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandparents, Chang and Soon Shin of North Wales, his uncle Peter Shin, husband of Colleen, and numerous cousins. He is predeceased by his paternal grandparents Robert and Loretta (Aneta) Shugart.


All services are private. A celebration of life will be announced later for extended family and friends.
