Alfred Clyde Coyle

Alfred Clyde Coyle, of Lansdale, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2026. He was 86 years old.

Born on July 18, 1940, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Clyde was the son of the late Walter and Rhoda Coyle. He graduated from Olney High School in Philadelphia and went on to earn his degree from Ursinus College.

A proud veteran, Clyde honorably served in the U.S. Army Security Agency during the Vietnam Era. Following his military service, he enjoyed a long career as a control engineer with Metso Corporation in Lansdale, formerly Leeds & Northrup Co. of North Wales, Pennsylvania.

Clyde was the dear brother of Walter Coyle and the late James Coyle, Rhoda Marshall, and Barbara Rupley. He is survived by his longtime partner, Trudi Herbicek; his two sons, Douglas Coyle and Glenn Coyle; his daughters-in-law, Patti Coyle and Kimberly Coyle; four grandchildren, James Coyle, Alex Coyle and his wife, Emily, Zachary Coyle and his wife, Casie, and Amy Richardson and her husband, Keaton; and his great-grandson, Jack Richardson.

Clyde shared many happy years with his longtime partner, Trudi. Together, they especially enjoyed visits to Longwood Gardens and trips to Cape May, places that held many fond memories for them.

Throughout his life, Clyde enjoyed many interests and activities, but fishing held a special place in his heart. As a young man, he spent many memorable hours fishing with his father, a tradition he later shared with his own two sons as they were growing up. The fishing trips Clyde shared with his boys produced far too many humorous stories to recount, and those memories will remain a treasured part of their time together.

Clyde was a caring and devoted grandfather who took great pride in his family. He had long hoped to become a great-grandfather, and the arrival of his great-grandson, Jack, shortly before Clyde’s passing brought him added joy.

Clyde also enjoyed woodcarving, bowling, walking, and deep-water exercise at the YMCA. Over the years, he valued the friendships and sense of community he found through New Beginnings at both St. Stanislaus Church and St. Helena Church.

A private memorial service and luncheon will be held for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Clyde’s name may be made to Longwood Gardens or the Cape May Community Food Closet.
