Anthony "Sonny" Derescavage, 75, of Hatfield, passed peacefully into eternity Sunday, February 15, 2026 after a long health battle. He was the beloved husband of Diane (Scherer) Derescavage, his wife of 49 years.Born June 20, 1950 in Pittston, PA, he was the son of the late Anthony and Helen (Valkos) Derescavage.
Sonny was a dedicated employee of Haines & Kibblehouse for over 50 years. He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Lansdale, and also a proud veteran of the United States Navy.
He was a kind and gentle soul who devoted his time and energy to helping anyone in need. For years he set aside the summer months to volunteer setting up the St. Stan's annual parish festival, providing any support he could with the help of his H&K resources. At home he was always looking for a project. Whether it was a neighbor's lawn that needed to be mowed or a tree that needed to be cut down, he was on it. If you happened to stop by his house, you often left with one of his complimentary car washes.
Sonny loved to be active. Many people know him for his nightly 5-mile walks through Hatfield. He loved playing horseshoes with his nieces and nephews at the shore as well as building sandcastles with his grandkids and great nephews. When the day was done, you could find him sitting on the back porch, listening to doo-wop and admiring nature, only after making sure the deer were fed and the bird feeder was full.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Drew Derescavage (Stacy Cuthbertson) of East Norriton, Audrey Scanlon (Matthew) of Hatfield, his three dear grandchildren, Sydney, Graham, and Brynn; his sisters, Geraldine Derescavage of Devon, and Evelyn Danenhower of Lansdale; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, as well as cousins.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Wadolny.
Our family is grateful to the caring staff of Willowbrooke Court at Brittany Pointe for their loving care over the last two months.
