Barbara Ann "Barb" (Musselman) Chowns, 77, wife of Frederick A. Chowns, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at Gwynedd Nursing, Lansdale.
Born in Norristown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Henry M. and Helene D. (Wilson) Musselman.
Barbara married her husband Frederick Alden Chowns on Sept. 7th, 1968. They had their first son Kevin Micheal in February of 1969, then their second son Matthew Norman in November of 1972. She had always wanted to become a hairdresser and in the early 1980s she graduated from Ambler Beauty Academy, later securing a position as lead hairdresser at St. Mary's Manor in Lansdale. After many years there, she gave up her scissors to become the receptionist and head of H.R. for the Chowns family business in Skippack, retiring from that position in the early 2020s. Following her retirement, she and her husband spent years traveling around the world and finally finding Florida's Gulf Coast as their winter home for the past 13 years, always returning to Skippack during the summer months to be with family and friends.
Surviving with her husband are sons Kevin M. Chowns, husband of Nancy and Matthew N. Chowns, husband of Heather; grandchildren Taylor, Randy, & Garrett, and Morgan, Tanner, & Paige; and siblings Pat Kibler, wife of Robert and Henry Musselman. Along with her parents, she is predeceased by her brother Jimmy Musselman.
Services will be at a picnic at a later date at the Chowns' property in Skippack, PA
