Barbara H. Winter

Barbara H. Winter passed away Thursday, November 20, 2025. She was the loving wife of John C. Winter.

Born February 5, 1943 in Chester, PA, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Margaret (Hoffman) Hill.

Barbara poured her heart into teaching for decades. She gave her time fully to schools in Norristown, North Penn School District, and in Middletown, DE. Her love for teaching did not end in the classroom, as it continued in her home as she guided, encouraged, and believed in her sons which helped to shape them into the fine men they are today.

She was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church (Newark, DE) where she made significant contributions to church governance, music (choir, handbells, piano), and Christian education. Barbara loved celebrating holidays with loved ones, most especially Christmas. She found joy in any opportunity to host, entertain, and spend time with family and friends.

An avid reader, she loved history and theology, and spent many relaxed hours on her screened-in porch with John, absorbed in a book or newspaper and watching birds in the yard.

In addition to her husband, Barbara is survived by her children, David L. Winter (Makiko Yasuda) of New York City, NY, John Andrew Winter (Anne Polakovic) of Newark DE, Joseph S. Winter (Adam Shecter) of Queens, NY; her grandchildren, Emi Winter, Hiroki Winter; her siblings, David T. Hill of North Wales, Nancy H. Turner of North Wales, Lawrence E. Hill (Susan) of Harleysville, and Jeffrey E. Hill (Joyce) of Lansdale.

Relatives and friends may call between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 1, 2025 at Huff and Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Avenue, Lansdale, PA 19446, with the funeral service to follow at 10:30. Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Roslyn, PA.
