Barry W. Watson

Barry W. Watson, 74, of Lansdale, died Saturday, September 5, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Gail (Simpson) Watson, her husband of 49 years.

Born March 29, 1952 in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Russell and Elsie (McKendry) Watson. Barry grew up in Hatboro, where he graduated from Hatboro-Horsham High School.

A graduate of Drexel University, Mr. Watson was employed as a software developer with Leeds & Northrup for many years. Later, he owned and operated North Penn Mobile PC.

Barry was a longtime member of Sanctuary United Methodist Church. He was a passionate animal lover and a dedicated volunteer with several cat rescue organizations. He rescued hundreds of cats and kittens from local shelters, fostering many himself and passing many on to other foster homes. He was especially drawn to “bottle babies” that needed extra care to survive and thrive. He spent many weekends at PetSmart showing his fosters to prospective adopters and helping them find loving forever homes. Barry also loved horses. He competed in many team penning events with his beloved horse Patches.

Barry was an avid Philadelphia sports fan. He loved women’s NCAA basketball, especially the UCONN Huskies. He also followed the career of Caitlin Clark from Iowa to the WNBA.

Barry was a private pilot, having flown Piper Cherokee 140 and Cessna 140 aircraft. He also received his glider license. He loved old time country music and enjoyed helping friends and family solve various computer problems.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his siblings, Sandra Larkin of Berwyn, Nancy Mills (Bill) of Sebring, FL, and Richard Watson of New Hampshire; He is also survived by his brother-in-law, 3 sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale, followed by the Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be private.
