Carol A. Kester, 60, of Lansdale, formerly of Upper Darby, passed away suddenly at her residence on July 8, 2015.
She was born on March 24, 1955 in Philadelphia, and was the daughter of the late Henry and Caroline M. (Cassidy) Keough. She was the sister of the late Thomas Keough and Patricia McNulty. Carol is survived by her husband D. Brian Kester; her daughter, Melissa Moran Hewitt and son-in-law Jeffrey Hewitt; grandchildren, Alexandra Gabrielle Hewitt and Jared Robert Hewitt; and sister, Margaret Carabine; step-daughters, Katherine Kester Gillen and Caroline Strode Kester; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Carol received her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from the Warton School, University of Pennsylvania, and her Master's Degree in Human Resources Management from Rosemont College.
Her many employment accomplishments included: Corporate Trainer for Advanced Research Management Consultants, Inc., Philadelphia; Manager of Human Resources for Penn Fuel Gas, Oxford; Director of Human Resources for PPL, Allentown, Staffing Plus, Haverford, and SuperPetz, Hatfield; Director of Employee Relations for Weis Markets, Sunbury; Adjunct Instructor for the Katherine Gibbs School Norristown, and also Montgomery County Community College, Blue Bell.
Carol held active memberships to the Society for Human Resource Management, the Greater Valley Forge Human Resources Association, the American Society for Training and Development, and the National Association for Female Executives.
She was awarded the prestigious YWCA Women in Business Award. She volunteered for the Working Wardrobe for Women in Transition and was an avid supporter of the Chester County SPCA.
Carol was lovingly known as the "Queen of Prussia" to many of her friends and acquaintances. She was one of a kind, with a heart bigger than life. Her spirit, energy, and passion for living was an inspiration to all around her. With her affirming and generous soul, Carol served as everyone's personal cheerleader.
Relatives and friends may greet Carol's family on Saturday, July 18, 2015 from 10-11 am followed by a memorial service at 11 am at Calvary Church 820 Souderton Road, Souderton, PA, 18964.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Carol's name to the Chester County SPCA 1212 Phoenixville Pike, West Chester, PA 19380.
