Caroline C. Dunning

May 28, 1940 — September 24, 2025

Caroline (Carpenter) Dunning, 85, passed away on Wednesday, September 24. She was the loving wife of the late Wallace "Tad" Dunning, Jr.

Born May 28, 1940, in St. Louis, MO, Caroline was the daughter of the late Mr. James M. Carpenter, III, and Mrs. Isobel (Sutherland) Carpenter. Caroline and Tad were married in 1965 and went on to have four children together. Caroline and Tad dedicated their lives to teaching children with special needs at schools in Florida and Pennsylvania.

Caroline loved spending time with family. Once she and Tad became empty nesters, she would host weekly "Sunday dinners," keeping the ever-growing family well connected to each other. After retiring from the North Penn School District in 1994, she immersed herself in her most cherished role as a grandmother, even providing daycare services for several of her grandchildren. In late 2023, she was thrilled to become a great-grandmother.

Caroline is survived by her four children, Sara Campbell (Butch) of Lansdale, Rebecca Finacchio (Tom) of Pennsburg, Adam Dunning (Tiffany) of North Wales, Andrew Dunning (Mykl) of Celebration, FL; her grandchildren, Hannah Campbell (James Bulman); Tyler (Lindsay Helm), Max, and Peyton Finacchio; Jacob and Joshua (Emily Kelly) Dunning; and her great grandchild Logan Bullman.

In addition to her parents and husband, Caroline was preceded in death by her grandson, Philip Campbell, sister, Isobel "Duckie" Howerton, niece Julie Howerton, and nephew, Ken Howerton.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her memory to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, honoring her love and legacy of helping children.

Services will be held privately under the direction of Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale.
