Charles Allison Heck, Sr., affectionately known as “Charlie,” passed away on November 2, 2026, at the age of 76.
Born in Street, Maryland, Charlie was the son of the late Elvon Eli Heck and Esther Heck. A Maryland man at heart, he had an enormous heart, a wonderful sense of humor, and a story for just about every occasion. A nostalgic soul, he loved reminiscing about his younger years and sharing memories of the people and adventures that shaped his life.
You could often find Charlie along the banks of the Susquehanna River in Port Deposit, Maryland, fishing or simply enjoying the peacefulness of the water. He loved working on cars, building birdhouses, morning walks, and old cowboy Westerns. A master at playing pool, Charlie also appreciated a good cup of coffee and was a meat, potatoes, and gravy kind of guy. Nothing fancy, just the simple pleasures of life.
During his final year, Charlie lived in Pennsylvania with his son and daughter-in-law, where he enjoyed quiet mornings on the deck watching the deer. He had a special love for animals, particularly his son’s beloved Great Pyrenees, Sunday, who preceded him in death, and Layla, the family’s Miniature Australian Shepherd, who was rarely far from his side.
Charlie is survived by his only son, Charles “Charlie” Heck, Jr., and his wife, Amy Alfonsi; his grandchildren, Coda and Calie Heck; and his step-grandchildren, Jovanna and Adrian Alfonsi.
He was preceded in death by two beloved grandsons, Charlie Raekwon Heck, who passed away at age 10, and Charles Larkin Heck, who passed away at birth. Charlie Raekwon was truly the sparkle in his grandfather’s eye. He spoke of him often, missed him dearly, and carried the love and memory of both grandsons in his heart.
Charlie also leaves behind his lifelong partner, Elsie Minks, and her sons, Kenny, Nathaniel, Dallas, Uly, and Mike. Her son, Geno, preceded him in death.
His siblings included Roger, Gerald, Donnie, and Richard Heck, and his only surviving sister, Ruthann Cleary. He is also remembered by many nieces and nephews, especially Whitney, Ashley, and Ethan Heck, with whom he shared close relationships.
Charlie will be remembered for his kindness, humor, endless stories, and appreciation for life’s simple moments.
Perhaps the best way to remember Charlie is to picture him sitting peacefully along the Susquehanna River, watching the water roll by, with a story to tell, a smile on his face, and nowhere else he needed to be.
He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever a part of the stories his family will continue to share.
