Charles Henry Locke

June 8, 1933 — July 25, 2025

Charles Henry Locke, 92, of Harleysville, died Friday, July 25, 2025.

Born June 8, 1933 in Hyde Park, NY, he was the son of the late Orrin and Edna (Lasher) Locke.

Charles dedicated over 30 years of his life to IBM during a remarkable era of innovation and transformation. As a Mechanical Engineer, he played a key role in the production of groundbreaking technologies that helped shape the modern world. His contributions were recognized through several patents and letters of commendation from IBM executives—proudly displayed on the walls of his living room.

Outside of work, Charles was an avid sailor and passionate tennis player. He even built his own tennis court at a former home in New York, a testament to his love for the game.

Charles had a gift for storytelling. Over a glass of Dewar's Scotch—his favorite—he would share vivid tales from his career and life. Often, he'd fire up his computer to present impromptu slideshows filled with photos of family and friends, each image accompanied by his warm, engaging commentary.

Survivors include his children, Christine Locke of Australia, Charles A. Locke of Florida, and Elizabeth Styer (Stephen) of Schwenksville; and three grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are private and under the direction of the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale.
