Chhotubhai Dahyabhai Patel

October 24, 1939 — November 4, 2024

Lansdale

Chhotubhai Dhayabhai Patel, beloved husband and cherished father passed away on November 4, 2024. He was born in Pitha, India on October 24, 1939. He grew up on a farm and worked hard at his studies. He was the first of his family to graduate from high school, and he completed a bachelor's degree in Chemistry. He married Hasumati Patel on May 12, 1962. With this union, a dream and an adventure of a lifetime began.

Chhotubhai was convinced that moving his family to America was the right journey to provide the best opportunities for himself and his family that now included three young children. In preparation for the move he earned a Master's degree in Chemistry with the support of his father-in-law, Dhayabhai Patel and his mother, Dhaiben Patel.

Finally, with $8 in his pocket, Chhotubhai arrived to America at New York City where he stayed for 18 months earning enough to bring his family to America. With a hard fought for job in his Chemistry field in hand, he brought his family to Vero Beach, Florida. After a year and a half or so, Chhotubhai received a promotion and the family moved to Greensboro, NC, where lifelong friendships were built.  Now, it was time to think about the future and how to expand his dream to extended family members. He obtained a new, better paying job at Rohm and Haas in Lansdale, PA where a bigger home awaited and more job prospects for the extended family. Over 237 immigrants and their families can be traced back to Chhotubhai's original dream of moving to America.  He did not just bring his family and extended family over, he also guided them and assisted everyone in countless ways. He passed along to us the legacy of giving and helping those in need. Those who knew and loved him know that they will have done well to achieve a fraction of the good Chhotubhai has done for everyone. Chhotubhai would simply say, "That's what it is, we have to help others the best we can."

Chhotubhai had a phenomenal green thumb, and had a passion for growing trees, plants, and vegetables. He passed along cuttings from his beloved garden to share his passion with others.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Hasumati Patel, his children Anjana Patel-O'Connor (spouse Tim O'Connor), Mayank Patel (spouse Amita M. Patel), Amita C. Patel (spouse Jeff Waits).  He is survived by six grandchildren, Juniper Patel, Rajiv Patel-O'Connor (spouse Shelly), Kiran Patel-O'Connor, Marisa Patel-O'Connor, Rani Patel and Soni Patel. His surviving siblings are Babubhai Patel, and Paliben Patel, and Diwaliben Patel. He is survived by numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Chhotubhai is preceded in death by his parents, Dhayabhai and Dhaiben Patel, his brothers' Parbubhai Patel, Thakorbhai Patel, Maganbhai Patel and sister Valliben Patel.

Our family would like to thank the numerous family and friends who have helped throughout the years.

The Funeral will begin 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale, PA 19446, with cremation to follow at the Funeral Home.
