Christa Irene Krohnemann

Christa Irene Krohnemann, 94, of Lansdale, passed away on May 12, 2026 at Brittany Pointe Estates, surrounded by her children.

She was born in Weimar, Germany to the late Max and Gertrude (Klügling) Schlosser. She was married to her childhood friend, Helmut Walter Krohnemann in 1956, who had also immigrated to the United States.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband in 2002, and her beloved partner of 20 years Herbert E Steinmann.

She immigrated to the United States in 1954 from Germany.  She had initially started her studies in Leipzig, where she had a love of languages and was fluent in five.  She later pursued her Bachelor's Degree at Ursinus College, and received her Master's Degree from Villanova University.  She went on to be a German Language Teacher for the North Penn School District from where she eventually retired.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. She shared her gift of music, singing with both the choir at Grace Lutheran Church and the choir at Ursinus College.  Christa Irene will be remembered for her poetic and artistic spirit.  She also loved to travel, and was able to see and experience numerous countries and states. Christa Irene was a natural caretaker, and she took joy in helping others.

She is survived by her son, Erik (Lisa) Krohnemann; daughter, Kristina Krohnemann; four grandchildren, Krista (Taylor), Daniel (Corey), Sierra (Joe), and Erik; three great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Josephine, and Freyja; and  overseas , her sister, Rita (Martin) Fontius, nephews Matthius (Julia) Fontius, Christian (Miriam) Fontius,  and Swen (Krohnemann), niece, Johanna Fontius, and great niece Elisabeth Fontius.

Relatives and friends may call after 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2026 at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., followed by her memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held privately at a later date.
