Daniel R. Sloan, 70, of Oxford, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 13, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.
Born on August 9, 1955 in Philadelphia, Dan was the first born of eleven children of the late Daniel and Mary (Guthrie) Sloan.
After graduating from Roxborough High School in 1974, Dan worked at SmithKline Beecham until moving to Jacksonville, FL, in 1990. It was there that he started his long successful career as a lab technician in the pulp and paper industry. Dan moved back to Pennsylvania in 2006 to continue working at Solenis where he was employed at the time of his passing.
Dan was a quiet soul, but his passions spoke volumes. He loved music, action movies, and building and collecting model cars. His favorite pastimes included going to concerts, walking in Fairmount Park and downtown Philadelphia, going to comic conventions, and watching old cartoons and TV shows. He traveled frequently to various parts of California for vacation.
Dan is survived by his nine siblings, Deborah Miller (Warren) of Philadelphia, PA, Donna Cornell (the late Russell) of Hatfield, PA, David Sloan (Kathy) of Limerick, PA, Dennis Sloan of Philadelphia, PA, Denise Gray (Anthony) of Upper Darby, PA, Doris Gentner of Bensalem, PA, Douglass Sloan (Kelly) of Middleburg, FL, Dolores Sloan-White (Chuck) of Phoenix, AZ, and Dawn Macdonald (Sean) of Norristown, PA. He is also survived by his half-sister Joanne Valentine (Jim) of Bethel Park, PA, nieces Suzanne and Lorraine, nephews Timothy, Chris, and Luke, numerous aunts and cousins, and longtime friends Colleen and Rusty Alderman who were like family to Dan.
In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his younger brother, Donald Sloan.
Funeral services are private and under the direction of the Huff and Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale, PA.
