David Taylor Hill, 84, a long-time resident of North Wales, passed away May 3, 2026. David was born on June 12, 1941 in Chester, Pennsylvania to the late Samuel and M. Claire (Hoffman) Hill. Dave was a graduate of North Penn High School, class of 1959, and was very active in attending their class reunions. He attended Drexel University for his undergraduate degree, and earned his PhD. at Temple University, followed by post-doctoral work at University of Pennsylvania.
Dave spent many years as a pharmaceutical chemist at Smithkline, where he worked on gold compounds and produced many patents and research papers. This is also where he met his beloved wife, Irene (Burkhardt). Dave was a highly respected professor of organic chemistry at Temple University, eventually shifting to a full-time position at his beloved alma mater, while also teaching courses at Eastern University, Penn State Abington, Chestnut Hill and other local schools.
Dave was a member of North Wales Baptist Church, where he served for many years on the board of Christian Education, as the Sunday School Superintendent, as an adult Sunday school teacher, and was active in the Men's Fellowship.
Dave was a co-founder and board member of Nor-Gwyn Baseball and Softball, and was inducted into its hall of fame in 1999. Beyond his impressive accomplishments, Dave always found time to take his kids to the playground, coach his grandson's teams, root for North Penn and Temple sports, and was an avid jogger for most of his life. He loved to spend time with extended family for holidays, trips to the shore and Poconos, and talking about the "good ole days."
