Doris N. Gahman, 93, of Perkiomenville, and formerly a long-time resident of Franconia Township passed away on October 3, 2026. She was born on February 2, 1933 in Franconia Township to the late Linford and Katie (Nice) Moyer.
Her family and Christian faith were her top priorities throughout her entire life. In her humble way, she sought to foster harmony and unity among people. She was a longtime member of the former Rockhill Mennonite Church where she taught Summer Bible School, did clerical work, served on various committees, and later joined Bally Mennonite Church when she moved to Perkiomenville. She recently attended Indian Creek Church of the Brethren.
After public schooling, she attended Lansdale School of Business and went on to work as the personal secretary for the owner of Keller’s Creamery. After marriage in 1953, she accompanied her husband Earl to Long Island, NY where he served in the 1W Service for 2 years. Upon returning to Franconia Twp., PA with their first child, she was a homemaker. After the 2 girls were in school, she began cleaning part time at the original Rockhill Mennonite Home. As the children grew older, she worked full-time as a cafeteria worker at the Souderton Area High School until she retired.
She and her husband always enjoyed traveling. While raising their children, they took annual summer camping trips, visiting most of the states in the continental U.S. When retired, they enjoyed more traveling and some winter stays in Fla.
She is survived by her two daughters, Deborah Johnston (Keith) and Sharon Moyer (Tim); two grandsons, Christopher Johnston (Alisha) and Kelsey Johnston (Samantha); one great-granddaughter, Ailee Johnston; and her sister, Arlene Clemmer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Melvin “Earl” Gahman.
