Edith (Bray) Siemel, 93, longtime resident of Marlborough Township, PA, died peacefully May 14, 2012, surrounded by her loving family and pets. She was the beloved wife of the late Sasha Siemel who died February 14, 1970.
Born July 2, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Dorothy (Adams) Bray.
A former debutante, Edith didn't lead a conventional life for someone who was a part of Philadelphia Society. Instead, she married Sasha Siemel, a professional hunter and lecturer, 28 years her senior.
They lived in the jungles of Brazil for eight years, where three of their four children were born, before moving to the farm in Marlborough Township. Although Edith herself didn't view her life as particularly extraordinary, many did. She will be remembered for her love of animals and kindness to all.
She is survived by her daughters, Alexandra Siemel and Dora Siemel; her sons, Sasha Siemel, Jr. and Carlie Siemel; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many loving relatives and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 AM Saturday July 14, 2012 at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave. Lansdale, PA 19446 where a celebration of Edith's Life will begin at 11 AM. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Edith's name to Greenpeace at www.greenpeace.org or Defenders of Wildlife at www.defenders.org .
