Elsie M. May

Elsie M. May, 93, of Lansdale and a longtime former resident of Alexandria, VA, died Monday, December 16, 2024.  She was the beloved wife of Thomas E. May.

Born October 13, 1931 in Kulpsville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Marie (Simon) and Peter J. Lease, Sr.

Mrs. May was the dedicated assistant to the late Sen. Richard Schweiker, having run his office throughout his career until his retirement as Secretary of Health and Human Services.  She was a parishioner of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, Hatfield, and previously The Basilica of Saint Mary in Alexandria, VA.

Elsie's hobbies included traveling, reading, and visiting art museums.  She will be remembered for her dedication to her nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by 11 nieces and nephews; and many great and great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Peter Lease, Jr. and his wife, Clara.

Relatives and friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 19, 2024 at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 1601 Derstine Road, Hatfield, PA 19440 followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m.  Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Lansdale.  Arrangements are by the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale.
