Evelyn V. Brodhag

Evelyn V. Brodhag, passed away on August 28, 2025, at Morningside House of Towamencin. She was 91 years old.


Evelyn was born on February 13, 1934 in Lilly, Pa. She was the daughter of Michael and Olean Visocky and was one of seven children. She grew up in Altoona, Pa. Evelyn graduated from Altoona High School in 1952 with academic honors in the Business Department.


After high school, Evelyn moved to State College and worked as a secretary for the football department at Penn State, where she met Alfred Brodhag. They were married in 1957 and settled first in Uniontown, PA and then in Lansdale in 1959 where they raised three children, Bill, Beth and Carolyn.


After the early years of homemaking and being an active supporter of PTA, Evelyn worked as an executive secretary at Merck & Co in West Point, PA. She valued education and returned to school to earn her BA from Gwynedd Mercy College in 1999.


Evelyn enjoyed writing and playing a variety of games, especially Bridge. She hosted many family gatherings and made sure there was always an abundance of food to share.


Evelyn is survived by her daughters Beth Clifford (Peter) of Sequim, Washington and Carolyn Knower (Mark) of Lansdale. She has seven grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Adrian Visocky of Champaign, IL.


Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Brodhag. When Al passed away in 2017, they had been married for 49 years. She is also preceded in death by her son, Bill Brodhag; her sister, Elsie (Visocky) Mangiacarne; and her brothers John, Ben, George and Eugene Visocky.
