Frieda E. Corbit

Frieda E. Corbit was born in Philadelphia, PA and passed away on October 20, 2026, at the age of 95. Raised and educated in Philadelphia, Frieda lived a full life distinguished by her devotion to family, her infectious spirit, and zest for life.

With her first husband, Nicholas Helfrich, she had three sons: Nicholas, Paul, and Eric. She later married Leon Glica and Carl Corbit, both of whom preceded her in death. Her extended family includes Leon's children David, Danny, and Barbara, and Carl's children, David, Robert, Susan, and Steven. She was a proud grandmother to Margot, Celia, Andrea, and Marc, and great-grandmother to Magdalena, Esme, Runa, Santino, and Vienna.

Frieda worked at Harold Beck & Sons, Inc. in Newtown, PA, where she met Leon, and later at Educational Testing Service (ETS) in Princeton, NJ, where her multilingual talents and administrative responsibilities afforded her opportunities to travel extensively.

An unabashed extrovert, Frieda had the rare gift of lighting up every room she entered. Her sense of humor, boundless energy, and joie de vivre touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. A marvelous cook and gracious hostess, she made family holidays, birthdays, and celebrations occasions to remember. She was equally passionate about her beloved Philadelphia sports teams and championship tennis.

Above all, Frieda treasured her role as mother, wife, and matriarch of her ever-growing family. She demonstrated that growing older need never mean growing old, meeting life's challenges with remarkable grace, grit, and independence. Her exuberant spirit never diminished, nor did her unwavering devotion to those she loved.

Frieda leaves a legacy of love, laughter, generosity, and an enduring example of how to embrace life fully, joyfully, and on one's own terms.
