George D. Buchanan, Jr.

George D. Buchanan Jr., 88, a resident of Bethlehem, PA and Ocean City, NJ, formerly of East Norriton, PA, passed away on June 23, 2026 at home with his wife by his side.

He was a graduate of Ridley Township High School Class of 1955 and Franklin and Marshall Class of 1959 where he obtained a degree in Economics; he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi. George spent most of his career as the Senior Vice President of Finance for Laneco, Inc.

George enjoyed cruising and traveled to many countries. In addition to traveling, he enjoyed music and attended many productions at the Ocean City Music Pier, Lansdale Community Concerts and trips to the Kimmel Center to see the Philly Pops. Along with the arts, George was an avid fan of Philadelphia sports, especially the Philadelphia Eagles.

Family was the center of George’s life, and he was happiest when he could have what he referred to as his “4 x 4 square of sand” on the Ocean City beach. George is survived by his wife Debra (Stem/Smith); children, Brad, Scott (Lynn McRae), Lynn Grossman (James), TJ (Kasi); grandchildren, Sean (Cierra Grabill), Megan, Madelyn, Drew, Luc, Eryn; great granddaughter, Diana Grace and many friends.

In keeping with George's wishes, no formal funeral services will be held. His family will celebrate his life privately. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in George’s memory to Leveling the Playing Field – Philadelphia to help underserved youth in the Philadelphia area benefit from participation in sports.
