George Andrew Sabol

George Andrew Sabol, 96, of Lansdale, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2026 with his wife by his side. He was the cherished husband of Christine Carolyn (Wetzel) Sabol, with whom he shared more than 75 years of marriage.

George was born in Williamstown, Pennsylvania, on November 27, 1929, to the late George and Anna (Adam) Sabol. When he was young, the family moved to Bristol, PA where he was raised and attended Bristol High School. He graduated from Rider College in Trenton, New Jersey, with a degree in accounting, beginning a long career built on hard work, dedication, and a strong sense of responsibility.

George first met Christine at the bank where he worked, when her job brought her in regularly to make deposits. Her visits soon became something they both looked forward to and before long, he asked her on a date. George happily traveled by bus, followed by a mile-long walk, just to see her for their dates together. They became engaged after six months and were married on December 30, 1950.

From 1951 to 1953, George served in the military in France during the Korean War. After returning home, he continued building his career in accounting. He worked for Coopers & Lybrand accounting firm and later served as controller at Germantown Hospital. George then joined Ford Motor Company in Philadelphia before transferring to the company’s corporate headquarters in Michigan, where he continued his career until retirement. He and Christine returned to Pennsylvania to be close to family, and lived in Lansdale.

Outside of work, George enjoyed many simple pleasures and traditions that remained favorites throughout his life. He loved golf and was especially proud of the certificate commemorating his “hole-in-one”! He enjoyed playing bridge, cruising, and, most of all, dancing with Christine. The two loved both the jitterbug and ballroom dancing and spent many Saturday nights dancing at the ballrooms in downtown Philadelphia.

George also had a few longtime favorites that his family will always associate with him, including a good Manhattan cocktail, along with halupki and baniky--Slovak food connected to his heritage. These familiar tastes and traditions became part of the stories and memories shared across generations of his family.

Above all, George’s life was rooted in instilling values of faith, family and commitment to country in his children. Over the years, he had the joy of watching his family grow from his two sons to six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, creating generations of memories and traditions along the way.

He is survived by his wife, Christine, his children, George Paul Sabol (late Marilyn Jane), and Keith David Sabol (Maureen); his grandchildren, Patricia Ann Sabol (Hillary), Caren Elizabeth Sabol (Michael), Jennifer Mary Munro (Brian), Michael Sabol, Nolan Sabol, and Kristina Sabol; and his great-grandchildren, Margaret Jane Munro, Bailey Elizabeth Munro, and Beckham George McGoldrick. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Kleckner and Anna Moyer.

He was preceded in death by his brother, John Sabol.

Services will be private and are under the direction of Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home in Lansdale, PA.
