Gerald Joseph Dieckhaus, Sr., 86, of Hatfield, PA beloved husband for 57 years of Elizabeth Ann (Cochrane) Dieckhaus, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at his home.
Born April 1, 1940, in Chestnut Hill, PA, he was the son of the late Anthony W. and Christine M. (Smith) Dieckhaus.
Surviving with his wife are son Gerald J. Dieckhaus Jr., husband of Paola; daughters Elizabeth A. Poli, and Christine M. Fandozzi, wife of Christopher; grandchildren Breanne C. Poli, Lauren E. Poli, ENS Connor J. Poli, husband of First Lieutenant Irene, Ryan P. Fandozzi, Daniel J. Fandozzi, Andrew P. Fandozzi, and Victoria A. Dieckhaus; great granddaughter Veronica M. Poli; and sister Patricia A. Welsh, wife of James; brother Rev. Joseph C. Dieckhaus. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he is predeceased by his brother Rev. Anthony W. Dieckhaus.
Jerry grew-up in the Lawndale section of Philadelphia and attended St. William Catholic School. He was a 1958 graduate of Father Judge High School, a member of the first full graduating class. Jerry received his associate's degree in business from LaSalle University and went on to be a licensed real estate agent. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves, being honorably discharged in 1969. Jerry was a prior member of St. Matthew Catholic Church Mayfair in Philadelphia, where he was an extraordinary minister and choir member for over 30 years. Recently, he was an active parishioner of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Hatfield, PA, attending Mass daily. Jerry was a devout Catholic and instilled deep faith and love in the lives of his family and those around him. He was employed at Enterprise Appraisal Company in Wayne, PA for many years, retiring in 2006. Jerry traveled throughout most of the U.S. and parts of Europe. Of all the places he traveled, Jerry cherished his family vacations on the Jersey shore the most. He was a passionate Phillies and Eagles fan and enjoyed socializing with his neighbors. Jerry was an avid fisherman and gardener. He loved dogs, especially his late Schnauzer, Schulze. Family was his purpose. Jerry was a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather and great grandfather, and caring brother. He is truly missed by them.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 9:30am to 10:45am at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 1601 Derstine Rd., Hatfield, PA with a Funeral Mass to begin at 11:00am. Burial will follow in St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont, PA.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jerry's name to St. Maria Goretti Capital Campaign, 1601 Derstine Rd., Hatfield, PA 19440 c/o Building Tomorrow with Living Stones.
