Harry E. Clothier

Mar 28, 1944 — Oct 15, 2026

Lansdale, PA

Harry E. Clothier, aged 82, of Philadelphia, PA, passed away on October 15, 2026, at Elm Terrace Gardens of Lansdale, PA.

Born in Philadelphia, Harry was the son of the late Harry and Linda Clothier. Raised in the Mayfair neighborhood of Philadelphia, he was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Preparatory School and St. Joseph’s University.

Harry was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth “Betty”, and his beloved wife of 53 years Elfriede “Dolly”. He is survived by his loving children: Michael (Amanda), Ken ( Lisa), Stephen (Tara), Katherine ( Jeremy) and Sean (Ann). He was the cherished Poppy to Joshua, Harry, Patrick, Olivia, Jackson; and great grandfather of Julie.

He will also be deeply missed by his siblings- Linda (Harry), Robert (Joanne), James, Maureen (the late Keith), and brother-in-law George (Nancy), along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and Godchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister Donna.

Harry adored his family, playing an integral role in raising his own children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. His impact on their lives is immeasurable, and his legacy will continue to thrive through the generations he touched.

In his earlier years, Harry was a science teacher at St. Basil’s Academy. Mentoring extra-curricular activities there led him to pursue Photography and Typography which soon developed into the creation and proprietorship of his long-time business: Harry E Clothier Phototypography. Finally, he worked in document creation services for FedEx Kinko’s.

With both his own children and the many others he knew through their activities (principally as the longstanding committee chairman for BSA Troop 372), he was a caring leader who patiently drove and supported kids on camping trips, band concerts, and school activities. Always ready to lend a helping hand and aid those in need, his reliability and good humor made him a cherished friend and mentor to many.

Harry also found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. Throughout his life, he shared a profound bond with the many dogs he adopted (as well as his many grand-dogs and cats). Always curious, he read avidly, enjoying science, history and fiction. He found joy in watching and sharing movies, solving crosswords, and playing card and board games with friends and family. He was previously a member of St Bartholomew’s RC Church of Philadelphia.

A Life Celebration will be planned for later in November or December with details to be shared at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made in Harry’s honor to: Montgomery County SPCA, 19 E. Ridge Pike, Conshohockon, PA 19428

Harry’s legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering support will continue to shine brightly through his family and all those who were fortunate enough to know him.
