Harry Richard Rutter Jr.

Harry Richard Rutter, Jr., 80, of Dresher, PA, passed away on Friday, May 23 at his residence.

Rick, as he was known by family and friends, was the loving husband of Barbara (Marrone) Rutter and father to Jennifer Swanson and her husband Greg, and Addie Jonas and her husband Beau Lyons.

Born in Lansdale, PA on December 25, 1944, he was the son of the late Harry Richard Rutter Sr. and Alma (Conolly) Rutter. He was also raised there where he attended Lansdale Catholic High School and met his future wife of 57 years, Barbara, at a high school dance.

Rick began his career in the mailroom of Merck, Sharp & Dohme while attending Ursinus College in the evenings, where he graduated with a  BA in Economics. He then went to McNeil Pharmaceutical for the majority of his career before becoming the Co-Founder and President of The GMR Group, a managed healthcare consultancy.

An avid golfer, Rick was a member of Manufacturers' Golf & Country Club where he served on the Board as well as several committees  throughout the years. His favorite pastime, however, was spending summers on Long Beach Island, NJ surrounded by family and friends. Nothing mattered more to Rick than his family and the many close friendships that he made throughout his life.

In addition to his wife and children, Rick is survived by his three loving grandchildren, John, Harry and Maggie; his sisters Kathleen Opper and Kim Dobson and her husband James; his brother-in-law Joseph and his wife Christine; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Wendy Jonas.

The family will receive visitors on Friday, May 30 at 9:30am at Queen of Peace Church, 820 North Hill Avenue, Ardsley, PA 19038. A Memorial Mass will begin at 10:30am.
