Herman P. Ehret, 88, of Gwynedd, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 24, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Monica (Beliveau Tobey) Ehret, who preceded him in death on September 1, 2018, and with whom he shared many loving years.
Born on February 23, 1938, in Philadelphia, Herman was the son of the late Herman and Erna (Fischer) Ehret.
Herman graduated from Central High School (205th Class) and went on to earn a degree in Political Science from Penn State. He began his career as a computer programmer and systems analyst, a field in which he would spend decades building a respected and accomplished career. Over the years, he worked with the Social Security Administration in New York and Baltimore, RCA's Computer Systems Division, TELEKURS AG in Zurich, Switzerland, and later Unisys in Blue Bell, where he remained until his retirement in 1998.
Herman lived in Blue Bell from 1988 to 2015 and remained deeply engaged in his community both before and after retirement. He generously volunteered his time with Manna on Main Street, St. Mary Manor in Lansdale, and served as past President of the Historical Society of Whitpain. He had a wide range of interests and passions, including reading, traveling, music, cooking, playing pinochle, gardening, and following history and politics. Whether at home or abroad, Herman approached life with curiosity, thoughtfulness, and a genuine enjoyment of learning and sharing with others.
He is lovingly remembered by his nieces, Pamela L. Marcucci (Michael) of Allentown and Andrea R. Ehret of Cranston, RI, and a great nephew Spencer E. Marcucci. As well as his dear friends, Hadley Robertson of Gwynedd and Mary Standley of Flourtown.
He was preceded in death by his niece, Rebecca S. Ehret; his brother, Robert Ehret; and his sister-in-law, Nancy Ehret.
Relatives and friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 8, 2026 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1000 W. Main Street, Lansdale, followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the church columbarium. Arrangements are by the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Herman's memory to Manna on Main Street, 606 E. Main Street, Lansdale, PA 19446.
