James J. Hannon

James J. Hannon, 78, husband of Sherry M. (Rodgers) Hannon, passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at his home after a battle with lung cancer.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late James C. and Nora (Harrington) Hannon.

James was a 1964 graduate of Monsignor Bonner. He went into the Marine Corps in 1966 and served in Vietnam as part of the Marines Amtraks. He came home in 1967 and served briefly with the Army Reserves. Always a man of good humor and a good story, he served with several VFW clubs including the Main Line Post 843, Lansdale post 32 and the American Legion post 933. James was a long-time rail and train enthusiast, an avid Philly sports fan and a long-term machinist who worked locally for many years.

Surviving with his wife are stepsons William T. Forbes III, husband of Jody, and Eric A. Forbes; grandchildren Olivia Forbers, Elizabeth Forbes, and Chase Forbes; and his lifelong friends Walt Cowan and Dan Sweeney.

Services and interment are private. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your local American Legion Post to benefit veterans.
