James Daniel Morgan Sweeney

December 9, 1943 — April 1, 2026

Dan was born December 9, 1943 in Detroit, Michigan to John Morgan Sweeney and Helen Takala Sweeney. He was the oldest (and arguably the best) of four children.

He is survived by his wife Sandra (they married in 1970), his brother-in-law Ken Schmader, Dan's children Mark (Lauren) Sweeney, Jennifer Erin (Jason Murray) Sweeney and David (Kelly Kennedy) Sweeney, and his grandson, Callan. He is also survived by his sisters Karen Morgan of Colorado and Linda (Allen Knop) Sweeney of Wisconsin. He was predeceased by his brother John Brian Sweeney 2021 and his parents.

Dan grew up in Detroit, Michigan and he graduated from Cooley HS 1962 before attending Auburn University (Mathematics) (1966). He then entered the Navy where he rose both in altitude and in rank, flying P-3s and becoming a Lieutenant. He left active duty in 1976 and entered the reserves retiring as a Comander in 1992. He also attended Penn State (Masters in industrial engineering 1990). Dan joined Pacer Systems in 1976 followed by ASEC in 2004 and worked as an aircraft systems engineer until 2012.

Dan met his beautiful wife, Sandra (Sandy) in Adak, Alaska. They were married in the Phillipines and went on to live in Pensacola, FL, the Azores, and Virginia Beach before settling in Lansdale, PA and raising three children of whom he is extremely proud.
