James J. Thompson, Sr., 80, of Lansdale, died Monday, February 27, 2017. He was the husband of Barbara (Mortimer) Thompson, his beloved wife of 56 years.
Born May 21, 1936 in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary (Gerrow) Thompson.
Jim graduated from the former North Catholic High School, Philadelphia. After serving in the US Army, he began his career in Quality Control with Philco Ford, retiring in 2000.
Jim was a longtime, dedicated parishioner of Corpus Christi Church, Lansdale, where he was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Suzanne M. Kunze (Jim) of North Wales, and James J. Thompson, Jr. (Donnasue) of Reading; five grandchildren, Daniel G. Kunze (Kerrin), Christopher James Thompson (Melissa), Michele Kunze (Jack Parrish), Rebecca Wittman (Kurtis), and Rachel Thompson; and his great-granddaughter, Annalynne Thompson, with one more, "Baby K," on the way.
Relatives and friends may call between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2017 at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale. The Funeral Mass will begin 9:00 a.m. Saturday, March 4 at Corpus Christi Church, 900 Sumneytown Pike, Lansdale, followed by burial in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery, Langhorne.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Jim's memory to the Living Branches Benevolent Care Fund, 275 Dock Drive, Lansdale, PA 19446.
