Janice E. Eckardt

Janice E. "Jan" (Kraft) Eckardt, 83, of Harleysville, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Peter Becker Community.  She was the wife of the late James F. "Jim" Eckardt, who died August 30, 1985.

Born February 1, 1941 in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Estelle (Greenleaf) Kraft.

Janice attended Simon Gratz High School and Montgomery County Community College. She was a real estate Associate Broker at ReMax Realty for 30 years, retiring in 2000. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, and flower arranging.

Jan was involved in volunteer ministries at several churches she attended including Trinity Lutheran Church, Lansdale, where she was a member of church council from 1985 to 1993, Chair of Singles Ministry from 1986 to 1996, and Refugee Resettlement where she represented Trinity Church in finding homes for families coming to the US, starting with refugees from Vietnam, Kosovo, and Liberia.

She also started Grief Share Ministry at Christ Lutheran Church in Kulpsville and served as a volunteer chaplain at Grand View Hospital for years, until her health prevented her from continuing her service.

Survivors include her children, Dawn M. Murset (Kurt) of Harleysville, and J. Christopher Eckardt (Pamela) of Telford; and two grandchildren, Tyler Eckardt and Lauren Eckardt.

Relatives and friends may call after 9:00 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale, followed by the Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m.  Burial will be private in Garden of Memories of Worcester.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jan's memory to Make Peace With Animals, PO 488, New Hope, PA 18938
