Jean Nancy (Fredholm) Keer, aged 92, died peacefully and surrounded by family on March 23, 2025, at her home in Lansdale, PA after a brief illness. Jean was an intelligent, caring and nurturing woman with an accepting heart. She will be sorely missed by her friends and, of course, her large immediate and extended family.
Jean is survived by children Beth (Mark Riley), Karen Shegda (George), Christopher, Timothy (Clara, deceased), Richard (Kristina), and Edward (Kristine); daughter-in-law, Peggy; a sister-in-law, Judith Fredholm, and brothers-in-law, Donald (Jeanne, deceased) Keer and Gerald (Helen) Keer. She is preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Stafford, and her first-born son, Joseph. Jean was grandmother to Gur Keer (Crystal Barr) John Keer (Stephanie), Emily Keer, Caitlin Shegda, Allison Shegda, Charlotte Keer, Adrienne Keer, Frances Keer, TJ Keer (Courtney), Nicole Keer (Jonathan Lake), Alexander Keer, Samantha Keer, Maxwell Keer and Nora Keer. She was a proud great-grandmother to Samuel Dugan, Penny Dugan, Eva Keer, Everett Keer, Charles Keer, Sullivan Keer, Oliver Keer, Alyvia Lake and Madisyn Lake and T. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and two cousins.
Jean was born on March 18,1933 in Waukegan, IL to George G. and Sylvia M. (Dahl) Fredholm. She was raised in the small town of Mundelein and graduated in 1950 from Libertyville-Fremont Consolidated High School. Jean met her future husband on a blind date when he was a student at the Naval Training School in Great Lakes, IL They were married on November 29, 1952.
After Stafford's service in the Navy, the young couple returned to Philadelphia and then eventually moved to their home in Blue Bell, PA where they raised 7 children and hosted 3 international exchange students from Sweden and Denmark. Jean was active in Saint Helena's Catholic church and in the Whitpain Township Women's Club. She went to practical nursing school and then pursued her dream of becoming an RN. She spent many years as a geriatric nurse. After her retirement, she enjoyed traveling throughout the US and Europe with her husband and friends.
In addition to her social and volunteer work, and her career, Jean was also a talented artist and a seamstress. She won awards for her paintings and photography. She made her own clothes, wedding dresses, christening gowns, baby bonnets, Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls for her granddaughters and holy vestments for the parish priest. Until her vision deteriorated, Jean loved knitting comfort dolls, especially Santa and Mrs. Santa, for dementia patients.
Jean was lucky to have lived a full and long life. Visitation and a celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at the Derstine Chapel, on Woods Drive, Dock Woods, Lansdale, PA 19446. Family and friends may pay their respects that afternoon from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. in the chapel. Jean will be interred alongside her beloved husband at Washington Crossing National Cemetery (Bucks County) in a private ceremony.

). Jean's family would like to thank the nurses and aides at Dock Woods (Living Branches), where she resided, and Caring Hospice for ensuring her care and comfort in her final days.
