Joan A. Quackenbos, 86, a resident of North Wales, PA went home to be with the Lord on July 11, 2026. She was the beloved wife of 60 years of the late Allen Quackenbos.
She was born on December 31, 1939 in Philadelphia, PA to the late James and Betty (Mutter) Wardaski.
Growing up in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia, as a child Joan enjoyed playing in the neighborhood with friends and was educated locally at St. Hubert Catholic School for Girls.
After high school she worked in downtown Philly doing various secretarial and administrative jobs. It wasn’t long before she met the man who was to be her husband for 60 years, Allen, at a dance hall. Married by a Justice of the Peace in November 1962, Joan and Allen honeymooned in the Poconos. They began their married life in Roslyn, PA and after a few years moved to Horsham, PA.
Joan made a beautiful home for her family, giving birth to four children and raising them in Horsham, PA, along with her husband Allen. Joan was a follower of Jesus Christ and sincerely practiced her faith. She was active in her church community over the years, attending bible studies, visiting widows as part of an outreach program, and serving her community. Joan also donated to various charities over the years.
Always a self-starter, Joan studied genealogy enthusiastically and pursued the creation of her own family genealogy. She also engaged her creative talents through activities such as knitting, crocheting, and cross stitch. In later years, she dove head first into intricate beadwork and watched and studied online lessons to learn how to create complicated beadwork jewelry.
Over the years Joan always enjoyed tending to her house plants, and recently renewed her interest in her lovely African violets, which she nurtured and tended with great care. She grew her violet collection to almost 50 plants, along with all the other house plants she cared for.
Joan was a loving wife, mother, and friend who was full of energy and she will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that a donation be made to the American Stroke Association (a division of the American Heart Association).
Joan is survived by her four children, Diane Redilla (Scott), David Quackenbos (Barbara), Vicki Dullen (Mark), and Melissa Rosen (Jim); six grandchildren, Devon Jensen (Doug), Austin Redilla, David Quackenbos (Elise), Matthew Quackenbos (Katie), Jonathan Dullen, and Katherine Dullen; six great-grandchildren, Rowen Jensen, Riley Jensen, David Thomas Quackenbos, Savannah Quackenbos, Josiah Quackenbos, and Leah Quackenbos; and a brother, James Wardaski (Rena).
Relatives and friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 2026 at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Avenue, Lansdale, followed by the Memorial Service at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be private.
