John K. Delp, 77, of Naples, Florida and Lansdale, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2026 at Abington Hospital, surrounded by his family.
John was born on December 7, 1948 in Philadelphia, PA to Winner and Mary (Herd) Delp. He graduated from Upper Dublin High School 1967 and went on to complete an apprentice program and attend classes at Drexel University. There he built the foundation for a successful career that blended his three great professional loves: business, engineering, and entrepreneurship. John began his career as a Tool Maker at The Jade Corporation. In 1973, along with his father and brothers, he founded The Delp Corporation, a family precision tool and die business. Later, he returned to the Jade Corporation and, alongside a business partner, grew it into a thriving multi-business precision manufacturing and engineering firm. The firm’s success was a testament to John’s vision, his work ethic, and his belief that a good idea deserves everything you’ve got.
From the very beginning, John was a boy with a golf club in his hands, chipping golf balls across the backyard of his childhood home; the start of a passion that would last his whole life. John was a longtime member of Manufacturers’ Golf and Country Club, where he treasured his rounds on the course and his Thursday card games with friends who became family. When he and his wife, Jane, moved to Naples, Florida they joined Grey Oaks Country Club. Here John found a new circle of friends in the Duffers, a group he loved for the golf, but just as much for the long lunches and the bottles of wine that followed.
John and Jane loved to travel and explore the world with friends. For John, the joy began with the planning and research. They especially enjoyed riverboat cruises throughout Europe. Those trips became something John looked forward to every year. John was also dedicated to doing good and giving back. He was a lifelong Shriner and long-time supporter of the Shriners Hospitals for Children. His generosity and commitment to the fraternity will be deeply missed by his fellow Nobles and his community.
Above all, John loved his family and friends deeply and without reservation. He and Debra (Keck) Delp married in 1970 and lovingly raised their sons, Jason and Shaun, in the Lower Gwynedd and Doylestown areas. He found love again and married Jane (Duitch) Delp in 2015, becoming a devoted step-father to Laura. Above all, John was a doting and delighted grandfather who believed his granddaughters were the most special girls in the entire world. He cooked their favorite meals, played dominoes and board games, loved to tell jokes and riddles, took the grandkids out for smoothies, never turned down a golf cart ride request, and would stop everything to point out a spectacular moon. He had a gift for noticing the good things and making sure the people he loved noticed them too.
John is survived by his wife, Jane Delp, his children, Jason Delp (Keri), Shaun Delp and Laura Harrington (Jason), his grandchildren, Maryn and Amelia; his siblings, Mary Harwood (Russell), Robert Delp (Sheryl) and David Delp (Diane); and many nieces, nephews and their children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Winner and Mary Delp and his brother Winner Delp.
