John Henry Herb

John Henry Herb, 86, of Hatfield passed away peacefully at home with family on the evening of July 27, 2026.

John was born on March 27, 1940 in Lebanon, Pennsylvania to the late Frank and Margaret (Snyder) Herb, Sr. John graduated from Lebanon High School and went on to attend Berean Bible School and United Wesleyan College, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in biblical studies in 1962. He went on to earn an advanced degree in Systematic Theology and was the Senior Class President.

Following graduation, John became licensed to preach within the Bible Fellowship Church and was ordained in 1966. Throughout his ministerial career, John pastored at Calvary B.F.C in Walnutport, PA, Berean B.F.C. in Stroudsburg, PA, Belvidere B.F.C. in Belvidere, NJ, Salem B.F.C. in Allentown, PA, and retired from pastor ministry following his 12-year service at Bethany B.F.C. in Hatfield, PA. In addition to his pastoral ministry, he served on numerous boards and committees. John was an avid book and tool collector who enjoyed reading, watching sports, and working with his hands.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Nancy (Shilling) Herb; four children, Marsha Lee Herb, Timothy Scott Herb (Inna), Daniel Alan Herb (Melissa), and Jonathan Paul Herb (Lisa); and ten grandchildren, Addison, Sierra, Austin, Grace, Michael, Lydia, Tessa, Emma, Shane, and TJ.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 4th, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Bethany Bible Fellowship Church, 75 W. Broad Street, Hatfield, PA 19440, immediately followed by the funeral service. The burial will take place at Hatfield Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
