John D. Ovens, Jr.

October 9, 1917 — August 20, 2025

John D. Ovens, Jr. ("Jack"), 107, of Gwynedd, PA and formerly of Clinton, NY, died Wednesday, August 20, 2025.  He was the husband of the late Marcia H. Beekman Ovens, who died in 2000, and the late Elizabeth Hubbard-Ovens, who died in 2020.

Born October 9, 1917 in Summit, NJ, he was the son of the late Margretta (Burr) and John D. Ovens, Sr.

Mr. Ovens was employed with Bell Telephone for many years, retiring in the 1970s, where he was a member of the Pioneers.  He was a proud veteran of the United States Army having served his country honorably during World War II.

After retirement, Jack served on the board of the Presbyterian Home in New Hartford, NY and was a volunteer with the Kirkland Town Library.  He also was a member of the Little Thinkers at Hamilton College in Clinton.  He enjoyed antiquing and refinishing his finds as gifts for family.

Survivors include his daughters, Elizabeth O. Kemble (John) of Wakefield, RI, and Margaret G. Ovens of Hatfield; two grandchildren, Robert Lemery (Candace) and Jeffrey Lemery; two great-grandsons, Lucas Lemery, Parker Lemery; and his nephews, Boude Storey and James Storey.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Jean "Jimmy."

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in John's memory to Kirkland Town Library

Funeral arrangements are private and under the direction of the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale.
