Joyce H. Eisler

Katherine Joyce Eisler (Joyce), 96, passed away peacefully following a short illness at Brittany Pointe Estates in Lansdale, PA on Wednesday May 29, 2024.  She was the loving wife of Joseph J. Eisler, and mother to David, Doug and Anne.

The daughter of the late Elmer and Mary Katherine (Pultz) Hamilton, Joyce was born October 9, 1927 in Lexington, VA.   A strong leader and outstanding student at the local high school, Joyce was also an active member of Manly Memorial Baptist Church.  Joyce continued her studies at Mary Washington College, graduating with a full degree in Business Administration.  Following college graduation, she began her career as a pralegal in Lexington; during this time she began dating the handsome and engaging Joe Eisler, and so began the long love story of "Joe and Joyce".  The two were so closely connected it was hard to imagine one without the other!

While supporting Joe through his time in the U.S. Navy and career with Lee's Carpets, Joyce raised a family of three children, moving around the Northeast where Joe's career took them, efficiently finding and setting up a new home, enrolling the kids in school, and supporting them through all the changes frequent moves entail.

Always an innovative leader and tireless volunteer, Joyce served as president of the Fairfield CT PTA and president of the local Welcome Wagon while the kids were growing up.  Once Joe and Joyce settled in Berwyn, PA after retirement, Joyce served as president of the Woodlea Garden Club, a hands-on garden club involved in community projects and crafts.  She also was an active member of Paoli Hospital Auxiliary, in charge of the Tinsel Ball, leading the Mistletoe & Magic charity fundraiser, working in the gift shop and ultimately serving as auxiliary president.  Joyce made such an impact with her service, she received the President's Council on Service and Participation award, in recognition of her commitment to volunteer services that strengthen our nation and make a difference in our communities.

Joyce and Joe moved to Brittany Pointe Estates in 2007, where they quickly became involved in this lively and engaging community of retired adults.  In addition to developing and maintaining many new and close friendships, Joyce continued her community service.  In 2007 Joyce joined the Jewelry Committee for the Brittany Pointe Annual Bazaar, eventually serving as committee chair.  She volunteered in and managed the local gift shop from 2008 to 2019, enjoying purchasing inventory, setting up displays, managing finances and serving the residents.  Joyce also served as Treasurer of Brittany Pointe Estates Residents Association (BPERA) from 2010 – 2012, and in 2014 was chairman of the Nominating Committee and chairman of the Gratuities committee.  She led a life devoted to each community in which she lived, and Brittany Pointe and its residents have been a very special part of her life.

Mrs. Eisler is predeceased by husband Joseph, her son David Hamilton Eisler, and son-in-law Karl Deans.  She is survived by son Douglas Eisler (Alyce) of West Chester, PA;  Anne Deans (Karl) of Palmetto, FL; daughter-in-law Cindy Eisler (Dave); grandchildren Morgan (Jon), Mark (Meggie), Matthew (Lisa) and Michael Eisler and Alicia, Melissa and Reagan Weaver; great grandchildren Austin Weaver and Leila, Declan, Hannah and Thayer Eisler.

Relatives and friends are invited to Brittany Pointe Estates, 1001 S. Valley Forge Road, Lansdale, PA 19446, where a visitation will be held Saturday, June 8, 2024, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., with Celebration of Life to follow at 11: a.m.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation in Joyce Eisler's name to the Samaritan Fund at Brittany Pointe,  will be greatly appreciated.
