Juanita P. Strohecker

Juanita Puyoou Strohecker, age 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 18, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.  She was the wife of the late Dr. Leon H. Strohecker, Jr., her husband of 63 years, who died November 13, 2020.  Juanita was a long time resident of the North Penn community, raising her family in Lower Gwynedd and spending her later years in Lansdale.

Born on April 21, 1933 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Laurent and Juanita (Meyers) Puyoou.

After graduating from Upper Darby High School and receiving her bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania in education, Mrs. Strohecker taught at a local elementary school until she had children.   Throughout her life, she was involved in many organizations.  She was an original founder of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) Lansdale chapter as well as a volunteer teacher of English as a second language.

Juanita served her community through Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (WELCA) at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lansdale where she was a longtime member.   She was an avid tennis player and spectator, loved to travel the world, and enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren in their many sporting events and activities through the years. Her social calendar was always full, and she graciously entertained family and friends as often as possible.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandy and husband S. Kelly Beckett of Ambler; her son, Lee and wife Mindy Strohecker of Collegeville; and her granddaughters, Madison, Leanna, and Gracie Strohecker.

Relatives and friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Saturday, November 25, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1000 W. Main St., Lansdale, PA 19446 followed by the Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. which will be livestreamed.  Burial will be private in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Ambler.  Arrangements are by the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale.
