Lakshumma Edamadaka

d. March 6, 2026

Smt. Lakshumma Edamadaka passed away peacefully at home on March 6, 2026, at approximately 10:20 PM EST in Allentown, Pennsylvania, surrounded by the love and presence of her family and friends. She was believed to be 97 years old, having lived a long life filled with devotion, resilience, and deep love for her family.

Lakshumma was born in Gollapalli, a village near Kadapa in Andhra Pradesh, India, to Nanubala Subbaiah and Nanubala Surama. In those days, formal birth records were not always maintained, and while her exact date of birth is uncertain, her family remembers her as having lived nearly a century of life and wisdom. She was the eldest of six siblings, and one of her siblings still resides in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh.

Lakshumma grew up in a simple village environment and did not have the opportunity for formal schooling. She spoke and read Telugu and carried with her the sincerity, humility, and innocence of village life. Her wisdom came not from books, but from life experience, faith, and a lifetime of caring for others unconditionally.

She was married to Edamadaka Kondanna. After his passing, she spent many years in Gopavaram village, where she remained close to her community and friends.

Lakshumma was a devoted mother to her two sons, Raju and Mahesh. Mahesh preceded her in death. Raju survives her.

Approximately 15 years ago, she came to the United States to live with family, where she continued to share her warmth, prayers, and quiet strength with those around her.

She was a loving grandmother and great-grandmother whose life centered around caring for her family. She shared a particularly close bond with her grandson Harish, granddaughter Savitha, the daughter of Mahesh, whom she helped raise, and Savitha's son Hari Kishan, whom she also lovingly cared for. She is fondly remembered by her grandson Harish and by his three young children, her beloved great-grandchildren (Sai Laasya, Sai Sravan, and Nikhil Sai), whom she adored deeply. She was also very close to Harish's elder sister, Venitha, whose passing about seven years ago was a deep loss to the family.

Lakshumma was deeply spiritual and found great joy in listening to bhajans, reading the Lalitha Sahasranamam, and listening to Telugu spiritual discourses of Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

She cherished spending time with family and friends, and her home was always welcoming. She had a special ability to bring people together, and visitors rarely left her home without feeling cared for and very well fed.

Lakshumma was an excellent cook who loved preparing fresh, hot South Indian dishes for others. She took great joy in feeding family and guests and was happiest when everyone around her had eaten well. In fact, many family members knew that if they visited her, leaving the house hungry was simply not an option. Her kitchen was always full, and so was her heart.

Above all, she embodied unconditional love. No matter what, she would always ask about others, inquire how everyone was doing, and make sure those around her were cared for and had something to eat.

For her grandchildren, it would be sheer foolishness to say they came up in life the way they did without her. She was truly one of the central pillars of the family home and played an immeasurable role in shaping the lives of those around her.

Her passing has left her family and close friends deeply saddened, and she will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Her gentle presence, prayers, wisdom, and blessings touched many lives across generations and across continents. She will be forever remembered with love.
