Leon Wray Bainbridge (Lee), age 78, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2025.
Born on March 25, 1946 in Philadelphia, PA to his parents Mabel (Wray) and Leon C. Bainbridge.
Leon was the eldest of three boys. Leon graduated from Germantown high school where he met his sweetheart, Marilyn, who would later become his wife. Leon joined the army and spent some time away in Vietnam. During this time he would write love letters to Marilyn, a true romantic. Leon and Marilyn built a life and family together with three children. He loved his wife and his three children with all his heart. "Hard Working Man", he once referred to himself this way when he walked in the door carrying his lunch cooler. This was after a day's work as a die tryout specialist at Budd company of Philadelphia, Hunting Park Avenue. He truly was a hard working man. He would often work seven days a week consecutively to provide for his family. When he wasn't working he enjoyed vacationing with his family in Seaside Heights, New Jersey where he enjoyed spending time on the beach and boardwalk. He also loved to go to baseball games and route for his favorite team, the Philadelphia Phillies. He was a collector of numerous baseball memorabilia.
Leon found faith in God through studying the bible with Jehovah's Witnesses. He decided to be baptized and spent his retirement years volunteering to teach others about " the good news".
Son, brother, husband, father, pop-pop and friend. He is predeceased by his brother David and his wife Marilyn. Leon will be greatly missed by those who survive him including his brother Donald and sister in law, Pat. His son Lee, daughters Melissa, Becky and JaDawna, and his grandchildren. This includes Jayden, Rylee, and even his granddog Raven. Continue to remember Leon as his love continues to live on within us, his family.
