Lisa Gaye (Burke) McClay, 67, of Hatfield, wife of John McClay, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025, at her home after a brave battle with cancer. She always had a love for life to help her battle and she was a true warrior.
Lisa was born in North Wales, PA on March 7, 1958, she was the daughter of Eunice (Krout) Burke of North Wales and the late Richard Burke. She was the sister of Richelle Bateman. She married Jack McClay on April 28 th 1980. She was the loving mother of Ashley Thorp, wife of John, and Jaclyn Griffin, wife of Patrick.
Lisa cherished all of her time as a "Grammie" with her grandchildren Hailey, Alexander, Stephen, Lucy, Patrick Jr., Grace, and Lincoln. We know she will always live on in each of them.
Lisa was someone who has touched so many lives in such a positive and inspiring way. Motivating her swimmers from the pool deck, critiquing countless lineup cards, Lisa loved coaching and being part of hundreds of swimmers lives in North Penn Aquatic Club (NPAC) and the Hatfield Swim teams. Her influence went far beyond the start and conclusion of a swim season – Coach Lisa's impact was lifelong and will always be felt – from multiple generations who swam under Lisa's guidance, past swimmers now coaches, all swimmers past and present carry Coach Lisa's loving spirit for the next swim season and beyond the pool.
When Lisa wasn't with her family, friends, or coaching-you could find her in her beautiful garden that she took so much pride and peace in. She started the annual pumpkin patch party, because of the pumpkins they started to grow in the garden. Her love for gardening lives on in all of us. She also loved the beach- it was truly her happy place. From Ocean City- our early memories in Marmora to the BOB girls week to our family vacations with her mom and dad. Then to all of our memories in our second home- Sea Isle City. When you asked Lisa what she wanted to do- it was to walk, drive or bike to go see the sunset. There wasn't a sunset she didn't love!
Everyone that went to Dr. Lipa's to get their braces knew that Lisa would be there with her welcoming smile and positive attitude! 35+ years in the dental field and many patients have the best memories with her.
She was also a devoted and active member at the former St. Luke's UCC Church in North Wales, and the current St. Johns UCC Church in Lansdale. Her faith was always a cornerstone for her life, family, and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at Saint John's United Church of Christ in Lansdale. The visitation will begin at 9:00 AM followed by the memorial service at 11:00 AM.
Lisa's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who loved, supported, and prayed with her throughout her life. Her smile, her laughter that lights up a room, and endless positivity and strength will forever remain in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lisa's name to her GoFundMe here .
