Lucy Amelia Carreon

April 8, 1932 — August 14, 2025

Lucia "Lucy" Amelia Carreon (née Verderame) passed away peacefully at her home on August 14, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born to the late Liberato and Concetta Verderame, Lucy was preceded in death by her beloved son, Louis E. Carreon, and by her brothers John, Peter, Frank, and L. Thomas Verderame.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 71 years, Lionel Louis Carreon; her sister, Philomenia Verderame Strunk of Santa Cruz, California; and her seven children: Linda C. Hawkins (Jeffrey) of Glenside, Theresa M. Carreon of Lansdale, David Carreon (Wendy) of Haddonfield, New Jersey, Stephen Carreon (Carrie) of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Maria C. Souder (Douglas) of Harleysville, Christopher Carreon of Lansdale, and Rebecca Adam (Dr. Jamie) of Williamsport.

Lucy was a proud grandmother to 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and she is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Growing up in South Philadelphia, Lucy loved attending musicals and dances, one of which led to meeting the love of her life, Lionel. Together, they started a family before settling in Montgomery County. Energized by raising eight children, Lucy would pack up the car and have Lionel drive the family to parks, museums, zoos, beaches, and musicals, creating cherished memories that still echo in the hearts of her family.

She was her children's and grandchildren's biggest cheerleader, always present for their many activities. Lucy's love language was food, she cooked enough for an army, filling the house with warmth, celebration, and the unmistakable scent of love simmering on the stove.

Lucy cherished her friendships and her rich spiritual life as an active member of Montco Bible Fellowship in Lansdale, where she lived out her faith with quiet strength and grace.

In Italian, Lucia means "light", a name that perfectly captured her essence. Lucy was a light to everyone around her, touching lives with her generosity, gentleness, and compassion. Her life is a testament to the legacy that selfless love leaves behind.

We love you and miss you Lucy, Mom, Grandmom, Gigi.
