Marie F. (Flood) Merkel
April 16, 1929 – December 23, 2024

Marie F. (Flood) Merkel, 95, beloved wife of the late Richard R. Merkel, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 23, 2024, at Meadowood Senior Living in Lansdale, following a brief illness.

Born in New Haven, CT, Marie was the eldest of seven daughters born to the late Frank and Rose (Corbett) Flood. She grew up in a close-knit family, sharing a special bond with her sisters.

Marie earned her bachelor's degree from St. Joseph College in West Hartford, CT, and worked as a dietician before dedicating herself to her family. A member of Corpus Christi Church in Lansdale, she was also an active and cherished member of the Meadowood Community. Over the years, Marie served her community in various volunteer roles, including as a Sunday school teacher, Girl Scout leader and 4-H leader.

Marie's legacy lives on through her daughter, Anne Marie Garncarz, wife of John; her grandsons, Thomas R. Garncarz, husband of Yiran, and Samuel R. Garncarz; and her sisters Posie Fitzpatrick, Ginny Kelly, Fran Jack, and Betty Ziter. She is reunited in eternal rest with her husband, parents and her sisters Janet O'Rourke and Joan Ciaburri.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Marie's life on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Corpus Christi Church, 900 Sumneytown Pike, Lansdale, PA. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private at Washington Crossing National Cemetery on January 6, 2025.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Marie's memory to the Meadowood Benevolent Fund, 3205 W. Skippack Pike, Lansdale, PA 19446.

Marie will be remembered for her unwavering faith, selfless service and the warmth and love she shared with everyone around her.
