Mary B. Stewart

Mary "Jean" Bartley Stewart, 97, of Belmont, NC, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2024.

She was the loving wife of the late Robert C. Stewart.

Born October 15, 1927, in Donegal Ireland, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Josephine (Morrow) Bartley.

Mary attended Cramerton Free Will Baptist Church and was a firm believer is Jesus Christ her Savior.

During her life, worked as a bookkeeper for several companies in Pennsylvania and volunteered for the IRS VITA program. She served as the president to the ARC of Georgetown, Delaware.  In the little leisure time she had, she enjoyed cooking and baking delicious treats for family and friends alike to enjoy.  A talented craftswoman, Mary knitted and seamed many fantastic garments over the years.  Travel was something that she always had a fondness; and she gravitated to people from other places in the world. Her favorite place to travel was back home to Ireland.

What brought Mary the most joy in life was her family.  She will be remembered as an attentive wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother that was hard-working, resourceful, sharp-minded and always interested in the lives of all people she met.  Most of her life was devoted to care for her Down-Syndrome son, Billy.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Arleen Hargett, and husband Rob; her grandson Joshua, granddaughter Jessica, and husband Joshua; and her two great-grandchildren, Katie Joy and Henry.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mary is preceded in death by her son Billy; her brother Willie; and her sister Gladys who lived in Ireland.

The family will be receiving guests Friday, December 6, 2024, from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Avenue, Lansdale, PA 19446.

Interment will take place at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Ambler, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mary's memory to; Cramerton Free Will Baptist Church, 426 Woodlawn Ave, Cramerton, NC 28032.

Arrangements are entrusted to Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale.
