Maureen Cecilia (Boyle) Weiss, 74, of Hatfield, PA, has officially called it quits. After a lifetime of telling it like it is, Maureen decided it was time to see what all the fuss on the other side is about. Whether it's an endless "Downton Abbey" marathon, a campfire in the clouds, or just giving the angels a run for their money, she's bound to stir things up with her humor, wit, and unforgettable laugh.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, and raised in Ambler, PA, alongside her four siblings, Maureen experienced some of the most culturally significant moments in our nation's history. One of the highlights of her youth was attending The Beatles' 1964 World Tour in Philadelphia and screaming her lungs out for her beloved Ringo Starr. If you knew Maureen, you knew how much she loved The Beatles!
She married the love of her life, James, on July 1, 1972, and they eventually settled in Hatfield, PA, where they raised their son, Ryan. Maureen was a go-getter through and through, rising through the ranks at Prudential Financial during a time when it was much harder for women to achieve the level of success she did. She believed in the importance of learning and keeping one's mind sharp—always ready with a witty comeback or a dose of sarcasm. Maureen also had a special place in her heart for "The Nightmare Before Christmas", one of her favorite films.
Maureen and James were an inseparable couple. No matter the challenges they faced, they faced them together. Their love wasn't just enduring—it was a love story. Their deep bond and unwavering commitment to each other inspired their family, friends, and all who knew them.
Fiercely loyal to her family and friends, Maureen was always there when someone needed help or support. She had a knack for troubleshooting any problem that came her way. Evening tea with her grandchildren was a cherished ritual, and during a trip to Ireland in 2001 (the one where her son got too close to the edge of the Cliffs of Moher and never heard the end of it), she discovered the secret to the best tea—boiling the water, never microwaving it. She loved making pizza with extra, extra cheese with her granddaughter Lylika, enjoying freshly made banana bread, and serving up her famous baked ziti with meat sauce, a dish her family craved.
She also had a soft spot for bluegrass music, campfires, and a good sip of Jameson Irish Whiskey (preferably from a Waterford Crystal glass, if available). Whether she was camping at the Philadelphia Folk Festival, referencing Seinfeld at every opportunity, savoring a rich piece of cheesecake, chowing down on a Wawa hoagie, or sporting a tie-dye t-shirt, Maureen knew how to enjoy life. For years, she hosted tie-dye parties at her home with family and friends. Some of her fondest memories were made during vacations to Ocean City, NJ, surrounded by the people she loved.
Maureen was a natural leader, not just at home and work but also in her community. She passionately volunteered with the Philadelphia Folksong Society, the Philadelphia Folk Festival, and Lansdale Catholic Robotics Team 272. Her energy, wisdom, and desire to teach others left a lasting impact on everyone around her.
Maureen is survived by her beloved husband, James; her son Ryan (Danielle); her five grandchildren: Ian, Matthew, Gianna, Lylika, and Bastian; her sisters Christine Duffy and Sheila Perchalski; and her brother James Boyle (Joanne).

In lieu of flowers, hug your parents, children, spouse, partner, friends, or anyone else who might need it. Tell them they are loved. Sit around a campfire and share stories, have a movie night with pizza and popcorn, quote your favorite films and TV shows, tell the same stories over and over again, and laugh until your stomach hurts.
