Michael Jeremenko

Oct 26, 1933 — Aug 21, 2026

Michael Jeremenko passed away peacefully in his home on August 21, 2026.

Mike was born on October 26, 1933 in Inđija, Yugoslavia (Serbia). He came to the United States at age 16, where he lived with his brothers at Northern Home for Children in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia. Mike graduated from Roxborough High. He then received a scholarship to play soccer and study engineering at Drexel University. To date, he still holds the record for the most goals scored in a single game. He served in the U.S. Army for two years in South Korea in between completing his degree at Drexel. He married Doris Trebino in 1963. In 1967, they purchased their home in Hatfield, Pennsylvania, where he and Doris raised their three children, Michael, Steven, and Susan.

He was very active in the soccer community and coached for over 20 years, best known as Mr. J. He worked as an engineer until he retired in 1998.

He is survived by his brothers Alexander and Theodore Jeremenko, his sisters-in-law Fran Bevilacqua and Lorraine Nelson, his children Michael II (Desiree), Steven (Catherine), and Susan (Grant), along with 11 grandchildren, Michael III (Roxana), Devyn, Christopher, Theodore (Christina), Samuel (Claudia), Maximilian (Yasmine), Benjamin (Norina), Lucas (Madison), Abram, Danica, and Natalie, along with seven great grandchildren Eloise, Lucille, Eliana, Patrick, Aliyah, Michael IV, and Mariella.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jakob and Milica Jeremenko, his brother Milan Zoric, his sister Sofia Perisic, and his beloved wife Doris, who passed away in 1995. They were married for over 31 years. Mike was his family’s hero. He was a devoted husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

He overcame much in his young life and treasured the family he and Doris created. He attended every grandchild’s birthday, high school and college graduations, concerts, plays, sporting events, and award ceremonies. He loved to attend soccer matches and then later in life, watch them on TV. He will be greatly missed and forever in the hearts of his family.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Mike’s name to the North Penn Soccer Club, 650 N. Cannon Ave., Lansdale, PA, 19446 or Venmo: @NPennSC.
