Michael James Weaver

March 13, 1959 — February 20, 2026

On February 20, 2026, surrounded in his home by family members and friends, Lansdale native and longtime resident Michael J. Weaver battled cancer to a tie. (Mr. Weaver endorsed the thinking of comedian Norm MacDonald, that when a person dies from cancer the cancer dies too, thus the deceased did not "lose" their battle with cancer but contested it to a draw.)

A fixture in the region's bowling, billiards, and recovery communities, Mr. Weaver bowled a United States Bowling Congress-verified perfect game in competition and several unverified 300s in practice; shot in the North Penn Pool League and other regional leagues; and greatly enjoyed and drew strength from the support, company, and camaraderie of others in the recovery community. A frequent attendee of AA meetings throughout the region, Mike served the organization in administrative roles and was featured at numerous speaker meetings. He further supported others in recovery by inviting them to share his home, particularly in the early days of their abstinence. He was a tireless advocate for AA and its approach to overcoming addiction, and he inspired many people to pursue life without alcohol and other substances.

Mr. Weaver was a huge fan of the Phillies and Eagles, and of whatever team happened to be opposing the Dallas Cowboys. He attended multiple concerts by each of his favorite artists, who included John Prine, Rickie Lee Jones, Annie Haslam (with and without Renaissance), Bruce Springsteen, and Shemekia Copeland.

An avid biker, Mr. Weaver pedaled across the continental United States from Washington State to Maine as a teenager; made the "Bike MS" City to Shore Ride several times; and often covered 60 to 100 miles per day on pleasure rides throughout the region.

Born in Lansdale, March 13, 1959, Michael J. Weaver graduated from North Penn High School in 1977. After receiving his certification from Maxwell Institute, he began his career in data management at the Montgomery County Courthouse. Across a 40-plus year career, his expertise was valued by regional firms including Decision Data, Orleans Construction, and Capital Health System of New Jersey, from which he retired.

He was preceded in death by his father, Burt Weaver; mother, Jean (Coffey) Weaver, and nephew Shane Weaver. He is survived by sister Kathie L. Richardson (Jeffrey) and brother Scott B. Weaver (Tammy) all of Lansdale; and brother Robert D. Weaver of Quakertown; along with nieces Rebecca, Nicole, and Julia and nephews Kenneth, Michael, and Matthew.
