Nora O'Malley

October 9, 1936 — November 5, 2025

Nora O'Malley, 89, of Lansdale, died Wednesday, November 5, 2025.  She was the loving wife of Dr. Joseph F. "Jeff" O'Malley, her husband of 67 years.

Born October 9, 1936 in Philadelphia, she was a daughter to the late John and Marion (Burns) Golden. She was raised in North Wales and Lansdale and graduated from Lansdale Catholic when it was known as Little Flower High School. After high school she graduated from Chestnut Hill College with a BA in English. She briefly taught English in High School before starting her family. All her children well remember her keen command of the rules of English grammar.

As an adult she earned a Master's degree in Library Science from Villanova and worked as a librarian at Delaware Valley University and for Montgomery County Public schools. Later she worked at Prudential Insurance. She did all this while raising six energetic and ill-behaved louts, all of whom turned out to be responsible and well-mannered adults under her combination of a sharp tongue and a loving hand.

Possessed of a formidable intelligence, she brought a discerning critical eye, remarkable craft skill, and joyful creativity to everything she did, especially sewing, quilting and gardening. She loved flea markets and antique shops and saw beauty in the forgotten and the unique. Always busy, she slept "the sleep of the just" the moment her head hit the pillow.

Nora was a longtime member of St. Stanislaus and later of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Lansdale.

In addition to her spouse she is survived by her children, Michael O'Malley (Kathleen Trainor) of Arlington, VA, Kevin O'Malley (Dara) of Baltimore, MD, Patrick O'Malley (Maryanne) of Boston, MA, Shawn O'Malley (Kristi) of Fort Collins, CO, Maureen O'Malley (Darrell) of Lansdale, and Brendan O'Malley (Jacquie) of Erdenheim, PA. She had eight grandchildren, all O'Malleys; Mary Kate, Connor, Brendan, Noah, Addie, Jack, Ellie and Frances; and three great-grandchildren, Nora, Cameron, and Hudson; and she enjoyed the company of a very large and loving group of nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Ellen Paciulli.

Relatives and friends are invited to call between 1:30 and 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Avenue, Lansdale, PA 19446, followed by the Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m.  Interment will be private.
