NuNu Zan

October 10, 1933 – August 18, 2025

NuNu Zan, 91 of Hatfield, Pennsylvania, went home to be with our Lord Monday, August 18, 2025.  She was the beloved wife to the late Spencer Zan.

Born October 10, 1933 in Mandalay, Burma, she was the daughter of Albert Ba Te and Daw Ngwe Hta.

NuNu lived a many-worlded life traveling far and wide, endured many hardships, and fought for many triumphs, always first and foremost for her dual family—her relatives and the greater Karen people. She touched so many lives that it's hard to imagine all of her work could be contained in one lifetime, one human body, and one world alone. But she will live on and continue to travel time and space, sparking resilience in the face of hardships and fighting for triumphs through the grace she so meticulously planted in others.

NuNu was a talented seamstress and an incredible cook who concocted amazing meals, co-founded a church, and was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Lansdale. In retirement, NuNu partnered with Lutheran Child & Family Services for translation and resettlement of Karen refugees in the community.

Hpee Hpee (grandmother in her native Karen language) is survived by her sister Than Than, and her sons and daughters in-law, Lester and Irene of Paoli and David and Ida of Hatfield. She has four grandchildren: Jason, Jenna and husband Joe Truscello, Dorothy and husband Greg Cirillo, Bill Millar and wife Lisa; four great grandchildren: Gregory, Emily and husband Noah Tannen, Valentine, and LuLu.

NuNu will be cremated at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on September 27, 2025, 11:30AM at First Baptist Church of Lansdale, 700 North Broad Street, Lansdale, Pa. 19446, with visition from 10:00AM to 11:30AM
