Patricia C. Apple

August 16, 1937 — February 26, 2025

Patricia Cassidy Apple passed away peacefully surrounded by her beloved family, at the age of 87 on February 26, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Alfred F. Apple. A woman known for her boundless love, strength, and caring spirit, Pat devoted her life to the well-being of her family, always placing their needs above her own. Her love for them knew no bounds, and she was immensely proud of all of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

A talented cook and baker, Pat was in her element when hosting large gatherings, especially family events. Her kitchen was the heart of the home, filled with the aroma of delicious meals prepared with love and care. Her enjoyment of entertaining and sharing meals was only matched by her ability to tell a good story, often with her husband, Al's input, which often prompted much laughter from all. She had a contagious laugh and a remarkable ability to laugh at herself.

Her grandchildren would also get a good laugh about her imaginary book of rules that she would refer to by the number of the infraction as needed. Rule number one was, "Be kind." Another popular one was Rule number 5, "No ball playing in the house." The numbers of the other rules were not always consistent, but there were many, numbering into the hundreds.

In addition to her nurturing side, Pat was a compassionate listener, offering a nonjudgmental ear to anyone who needed it. She was always ready to lend a helping hand to those less fortunate, and her commitment to education, community welfare, and the well-being of her state and country was unwavering. She was deeply passionate about ensuring a better future for all, especially in the realm of education.

She graduated from Liberty High School (formerly Bethlehem High School), Bethlehem, PA and supported her husband while he graduated from Moravian College. She prioritized her children's education as well. An avid reader, Pat typically began each day with the newspaper, which she read in order, front to back, and ended her evenings with a novel, always eager to learn and explore new ideas.

Faith played an important role in Pat's life. She found joy and fulfillment in singing in the church choir for over 50 years, an experience that brought her immense pleasure and satisfaction. She was also a dedicated volunteer, participating in numerous community organizations throughout the years, including the Junior Women's Club, Welcome Wagon, and the Hospital Auxiliary, often stepping into leadership roles.

Pat was especially proud of her involvement with the Junior Women's Club, where she was honored as Mrs. Lansdale, and nominated by the club for Mrs. America. She found deep fulfillment in her role as a homemaker, though she also worked outside the home in a variety of capacities. She served as the Director of Volunteers at Lansdale Hospital (formerly North Penn Hospital), an office manager for a dental practice, and later retired after working as an administrative assistant in the Wissahickon School District.

Above all, Pat will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend—someone whose unwavering devotion to her family, her faith, and her community left a lasting legacy. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Patricia is survived by her children, Deborah Fullam (James) of Doylestown, Lynda Bideau (Mark) of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Jane Poblano of Lansdale, Jeffrey Apple (Rosa) of Hatfield, and Quentin Apple (Juli) of Lansdale; 11 grandchildren, Kate, Doug, Jacki, Matt, Ben, Josh, Jenny, Douglas, Lauren, Lucas, and Ryan; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Charlotte Buckenmyer (Rick) of Bethlehem.
In addition to Alfred, she was preceded in death by two sons, Douglas L. Apple and Lawrence D. Apple; a grandson, Michael Apple; and one sister, Kathleen Lumpkin.
