Paul M. Schiffert

December 6, 1928 — November 27, 2025

Paul M. Schiffert passed away peacefully on November 27, 2025.

Born December 6, 1928 in East Texas, PA, he spent his early years in Allentown, PA before settling in Limeport, PA, where he raised his family. Paul was employed by Bethlehem Steel Co. for over 40 years, holding various positions before retiring as a furnace operator / melter. Paul was proud of the fact that the GM recognized him for creating a perfect 40-ton stainless ingot – although he said he would have preferred a bonus! During periods of reduced work at the steel company, he remained industrious, taking on various roles including hanging siding, installing windows, bartending, or delivering milk for Fegley's Dairy in Limeport. He was dedicated to providing for his family and consistently sought opportunities to stay active.

Paul was an avid deer hunter and was a longtime member of Tall Maples Hunting Lodge in Sullivan County, PA. Upon retiring from Bethlehem Steel, he relocated to Manahawkin, NJ, where he resided for the remainder of his life. He continued to take on part-time work, such as bartending and carpet laying. Paul was also a valued member of the Manahawkin Elks Lodge #2340, forming many lasting friendships and earning the affectionate nickname "Geezer." He greatly enjoyed playing long board with his Elks buddies, continuing to participate until the age of 95.

Paul was a devoted fan of the Penn State Nittany Lions, Philadelphia Phillies, and Philadelphia Eagles, often sporting attire from his favorite teams.

Paul was predeceased by his parents, Earl H. Schiffert and Ella B. Bernhard; brothers, George and Rowland (Rowly); wife, Elaine (Myers); stepson, Jimmy Myers;  granddaughter, Jennifer Marencik; and great-granddaughter, Brandy Grenfell.

Paul will be deeply missed by his children, Constance Shipe (Rick), Mike Schiffert (Jean), Roseanne Wagner (Dennis), Ann Marie Wrigley (Dave); stepson, Alan Myers (Kelly); fourteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren and many dear friends who became like family.

A celebration of life is planned for a future date. Further details will be shared as soon as arrangements are confirmed.

We would like to thank the amazing caretakers of Bayada Hospice who provided Paul with compassionate care, comfort, and support during his final days. Their dedication and kindness made a world of difference to Paul and our family, and we are deeply grateful for their presence and assistance throughout this difficult time.

Contributions may be made to Bayada Hospice in Paul's honor.

Arrangements are by the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale.
